Disaster Recovery Assistance for Ontarians

For safety reasons the Emo Splash Park will remain closed until the water levels have gone down.

 

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - April 27, 2022

The Township of Emo has declared a state of emergency due to flooding. There has currently been damage to critical infrastructure - roads and river front. The Emergency Control Group is monitoring the possibility of further impending damage. 

The public is not at any immediate risk at this time but is encouraged to avoid any areas that are flooded or appear to be affected by high water levels. 

The Township of Emo's Emergency Control Group will continue to monitor the situation and will work to keep the public informed through 93.1 The Border, the Township of Emo's website and Facebook page.

COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS:

The Municipal Office will be limited to three people at any one time during regular business hours excluding scheduled meetings. Council meetings are open to the public. 

The EarlyON Centre is offering limited programming, and the Public Works Garage remains closed to the general public.  For more information, please contact the noted facilities.

*** IMPORTANT NOTICE ABOUT YOUR 2022 TAX BILL***

Beginning in 2022, you have the opportunity to pay your property tax bills in installments.  The first (Interim) billing is mailed in the spring.  The 1st installment is due at the end of March and the 2nd installment due at the end of April.  You can choose to pay both installments at the end of March without penalties.  The second (Final) bill will be mailed during the summer.  It will also be divided into two installments.  To avoid interest charges, please check back for information on due dates.

BURN PERMITS ARE NOW ONLINE!

-Ability to register and pay online at your convenience (System is active 24/7/365)
-Quick access to current risk level
-Instant notification of a fire ban
-Printable PDF permits
-All Permits are valid for the entire calendar year with the exception of Agricultural Burn Plan permits which are valid for three years from the start of the applicable calendar year!
-Only thing ongoing for the resident to do is to call in to the automated number to notify of an active burn! -This allows our volunteer firefighters to quickly assess location, respond appropriately and cancel on false alarms as applicable, keeping our equipment in service for true emergencies.
-Pay by credit card, visa debit, or paypal.
-Simple renewal process on your account if nothing has changed for the following year.

Note: You can still register and/or pay at the municipal office in cash.

Fire Permits are required year round as per By-law No. 2019-13
